Living Life Indoors. Dreaming of the Outdoors
Adventure Experiences
Adventure Experiences
Ever felt like wandering off…
…and walking in the wilderness, camping overnight, enjoying the fresh air, all that nature can throw at you, coming back to your car and feeling totally overwhelmed at the experience… but never quite knew where to start?
Then this page is all about YOU and your next Adventure Experience.
I offer two Adventure Experiences for those who want to push themselves a little, gain a new experience, perhaps have always wanted to do something different and needed someone to give you a helping hand along the way.
These Adventure Experiences are designed to meet your physical requirements. I’d NEVER take you on a walk that I didn’t feel was out of your depth and NEVER take you out in the worst of the weather (at least not on your first walk 😉 )
Why purchase an Adventure Experience?
Adventure Experiences for yourself or a loved one
Self Reliance – Nothing beats the feeling of being in control of yourself. When you are out on a walk you are carrying what you need to keep warm and dry and provide a hot drink.
You can’t delegate, you can’t nip out and you can’t dodge the issue.
Improving your Mindfulness – Nothing, and I mean NOTHING screams mindfulness than being outside, on a mountain, in the fresh air with no noise around you except maybe a gurgling brook. It allows you to really connect with yourself and nature and to appreciate even more what you have.
Improving your overall Mental Health – Sometimes the stress of modern life, especially office-based work with the constant telephone calls and emails and meetings gets too much. Saying turn it off is all well and good – but we really know it never happens.
Being out of signal range is a forced switch off to modern life. Being out of touch allows individuals to regain control of themselves, their lives and with Andrew’s coaching allows them to regain control of the work-related stress and come away with the tools and techniques to cope better.
Improving your Physical and Mental Resilience – You take it. You carry it. Walking is a perfect low impact way of getting fit, increasing the range of muscles you use, burning calories whilst at the same time experiencing some of the UK’s areas of natural beauty and wilderness.
This isn’t like a gym session where you can cave in and walk off when you feel you have had enough. You have to continue to the end to get back to your car.
That mental resilience is a huge factor in helping you cope with life (work of personal) related stress and improving your mental health and physical health at the same time, besides…when you have walked 8 miles around a mountain route you know you deserve that ‘unhealthy’ treat! 😉
I won’t let you carry more than you need…and you won’t believe how little you actually do need.
Regain that childlike sense of adventure.
We are not born with limitations. We learn them.
Sometimes we need to re-visit those learned limitations and re-learn new ones that allow us to reconnect with our inner child and move forward.
You may have had an unhealthy experience with life in general and need to get outside and reconnect with the real you.
It may be that you have just reached a stage in life where you want to do something for YOU and not do things for everyone else.
Or you could just want to do something because you’ve never done it before!
HR function or Occupational Health role you can get in touch if you feel one of these would be suitable.
In addition to the above benefits…
Cost-effective – The usual coaching / mentoring / self-development charges are around £150 an hour+. These Adventure Experiences represent outstanding value for money for access to a highly experienced business and life coach and learning facilitator as well as the whole outdoor experience itself and hire of any equipment used.
Personal Leadership – How can you lead others if you struggle to lead yourself? Out on a mountain blowing a gale (sometimes literally) you need to be able to look after yourself, make sure your admin is perfect and stay motivated to carry on.
Andrew is a highly experienced HR Learning & Development practitioner (over 30 years of developing people of all ages, abilities and positions in life and work-related environments) and can provide the 1-1 skills via guided coaching and mentoring to help with personal leadership.
8 Hours Wilderness Adventure Experience
Adventure Experiences – Wild Camping Equipment
All the benefits of the 8 hour Wilderness Experience…but we stay out 3 times as long and wild camp.
What is Wild Camping?
Wild Camping is getting away from the usual run of the mill campsites that are crowded with people and finding a perfect spot by a stream or river, or even on a mountain to enjoy the views. It’s about the ultimate solitude at night, no lights, no sound except what you bring and make.
I wild camp using the principle of Leave No Trace (LNT).
All equipment is provided by me, all you need are your clothes and a decent pair of walking boots. I can, size depending, provide waterproofs if the weather looks dodgy!
So items like…
- Rucksack & rain cover
- 2 person or 1 person tent (or be really adventurous and go bush camping using a tarp & bivvy bag!)
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping bag liner
- Sleeping mat
- Pillow (no need to be uncomfortable!)
- Cooking equipment
- Head Torch
- Appropriate camping food (I can cater to most but not all dietary requirements)
- Maps, compass & protractor where required
- Water bottles & water filtration
- First aid kit
- Dry bags for your spare clothes.
I don’t allow deodorant or makeup or excessive luxuries…so when I do a kit check before we walk expect them to chucked in the boot.
This is a list of equipment I provide for your Aventure Experience.
The hire of this is included in the price of £125
